The main story this week will be the heat as high pressure amplifies across the region. We do have monsoonal moisture around that will spark isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms at times. Coverage and intensity will vary from day to day, so be prepared as conditions can change rapidly.
An easterly wave over southern Sonora fired off a large MCV overnight, which sent a surge of moisture northward but will likely stop short of the international border. We will have to watch for additional activity over Northern Sonora today that could send additional surges into Southern Arizona and increase instability across our region
Daytime highs will steadily climb for the 110-degree mark by midweek, while overnight lows cool to the 70s and 80s. Moisture may increase a bit towards the end of the week and over the week, with more widespread thunderstorm activity possible, a fairly typical early-season monsoon pattern. |
